Peter, Walter, There is no link between the serial number and being a Standard or Super Dexta. The difference can be found in the Engine number. The standard Dexta has engine number 150xxxxx and the Super Dexta has 160xxxxx and the Petrols start with FPL27xxxx. All other numbers are indicating a "foreign" engine (other equipment or Perkings or MF spit spit spit) Jos See also => http://fordson.freeweb.nl/ubb/Forum5/HTML/000313.html

Is the serial number you quote stamped on the flange behind the starter or cast into the clutch housing? If it is stamped your Dexta would be a 1958, if cast it is a casting part number and is no use in dating the tractor. The number and name on the engine seem to indicate a "non Ford" item. This could be a Perkins replacement and we will have no data on which size unit you have. ------------------ Kind regards Brian IP: Logged |

Yes you've got a April/May 1958 made tractor. Thats why the serial number looked a bit strange, she is very early. Full production only started in January that year. The original engine would have been an F3.144 and all casting for this and all Dexta engines were done at Fords own casting shop at Dagenham. Only the smaller parts like manifolds were Perkins built. ------------------ Kind regards Brian IP: Logged |

The serialnumber can be difficult to locate on some tractors, especially if the tractor is equipped with a front loader. However... I think you (Peter Walter) have a 3-152 engine. As far as I know only Ford used the 3-144 engine. After all, Dexta is a quite rare tractor in Sweden. By the way... -What fuel injection pump do you have? ----------------- Regards Johan. www.Fordson.se

early F3.144 ? The engine number 1409995 is very close to 150xxxx hope someone with early -58 cold tell. In a old topic 07 mars 2003: ``Firstly the castings were made by Fordson, which are stamped "Monocyl". These include the block the head and sump´´Foto from my engine And one from fordson-dexta.de with monocyl on head. [This message has been edited by lars (edited July 17, 2005).]
