James,
most probably, the reverse is stuck due to the levers not beeing centerd in the connectors, do following :
- Remove the top plate (plate with the 2 gear levers) by releasing the 4 screws.
- Using a big screwdriver, shift the connections to the center (puts everything out of gear)
- Replace the plate with the 2 levers back

ready
Good luck
Jos

i am no expert but yes mine gets stuck all the time its due to wear on the bottom of the gear stick. search the site for earlier posts someone posted a set of phots on how to weld up the end of the gear stick to solve the problem. i did it to mine and improved it no end it just needs a final tweak when i get time. it helps if you take care with changes being positive in your action. you will soon get the hang of it when you have had the thing off a few times!!!!

Great,thanks Mike

Yes, I have just had a look and found them. I have just got nmy Dexta and I am still in a steep learning curve. The tin is tatty but I love it already. I have a mower connected and I am half way through my paddock when it got stuck in gear. I will have a go at doing this fix with the gear shift and I am relieved (at the minute)that it seems to be a commion problem. You are right in that I do not think I selected first properly.

Thanks again

Hi again,

Well I stripped down as suggested and found that it was the ball joint on the main gear slector stick that was stuck. I coudl not figure out what was jamming it and after messing around trying to get the springs off it suddenly came free. I Bolted it back and the gear sfifting seems okay although a bit notchy.

Am I missing anything here or could it have been caused by some fouling?

Thanks

DWD

Well...
Maybe the bottom of your main gear selector stick is worn.

If so, a brand new main gear selector stick is aviable from New Holland (Ford).
