First of all the Dexta engine is NOT a Perkins! It is a collaboration between Ford and Perkins.
This means that although the two engines are similar there are lots of differences.
Ford made all the major castings at Dagenham and shipped them to Perkins to be assembled. Parts of the Perkins engine like the oil pump for example can be fitted to a Dexta but they require some modification.
The timing cover and back plate are also different.
It is possible that the pump might fit but you would need to modify it unless it was a belt drive one when you would have the brackets and drive pulleys to change.
You might find that the steering rams bolt straight on though.
Another thing I heard for the first time the other day that is very interesting. Perkins made a gas engine to fit in the MF35. Do you have any details of that beastie? Or is it just a mis-identification of the gas engine fitted to that tractor.
