Is there a listing of which pumps went on which tractor somewhere on the interweb?

My pump number is P4596 & a brief google search "pimms p4596" produced a few hits all of which said their pump was on a Super Major! Mine has come off my Super Dexta.

As my previous posting yesterday, Brian says I shouldn't swap to a pneu. governed pump. Can I use a different mechanically governed pump that belongs on a Super Dexta?

Hi Paul
The injector pump model number for the Super Dexta is 4696 not 4596. Taken from my S/Dexta pump.

Kind Regards

Cheers

Hi Paul
If you go back to my previous post "Fuel Pump" you will be able to read the number 4696 on my picture of my pump. My engine is a 1963 model.

I did notice that you sent me an email but there was no attachment.

Hope my picture helps you.

Kind regards
Mervyn

Hmmm the plot thickens!
I've been in touch with Peter Slater & sent him my picture of the plate. He recons it is a P4588.

A google search (pimms p4588)on that returns a hit "Doris the Dexta before the restoration" & he quotes "The brass plate above the "Simms" labelled cover, between the brass bolts says "P4696" which is the type of pump. According to the workshop manual, this pump was only fixed to the later new performance super Dextas. Normal Dextas and Super Dextas prior to 09C913383 had the same P4588 pump"

Peter Slater has a new cam shaft at £150+VAT & a service exchange for £350+VAT. I recon my local man is having a laugh at my expence with £550+VAT! I think Peter will be getting my pump pdq.

Cheers
Paul

It is not likely that you will find another engine with the Minimec pump in another application. All Perkins 152 engines were normally fitted with a DPA. Your engine, as has been discussed many times before, is a Ford designed unit and the Minimec pump is a Ford specified part. If you wanted to fit a DPA pump you would need further engine modifications and, once again the cost would far outway what your pump would cost to repair.

Think that there is a possible error there.

The Dexta had a pneumatic governed pump until April 1962, the Super Dexta was never fitted with a pneumatic governed pump, it had a Minimec from its first production in 1962. The pump changed again in June 1963 on the Super Dexta only.

Both the Dexta and the Super Dexta had the same pump from 1962 to 1963, 957E 993101D Ford part number. From 1963 the Super Dexta only had 960E 993101. This later pump had different delivery valves

I also am certain that some Dextas retained the pneumatic governor after April 1962 because I have not seen many from that period with the Minimec but all the New Performance Dextas had it. Could just be that there were more sales of the Super Dexta than the standard Dexta in that period.

Ok then is it fair to say the following applies:
P4588 is ford pt no. 957E 993101D fitted on 4-62 to 5-63 models &
P4696 is ford pt no. 960E 993101 fitted on 6-63 onwards models.
Correct? Both pumps are mech. govnd.

My Super is a 09B 725852 which I make it a late 62 model which correlates with the dates & numbers above.

Thanks for your advice Brian, I have no intentions in making my life any harder or more costly than it already is!! (wife with 3 horses, 2 children, 2 dogs, 20 chickens, 4 ducks, 1 sheep, 2 cats & a hampster!!!!!!!!)
