This a County, I think. Does anyone know what model it is? I'm thinking about buying it. I haven't seen it yet, and this is the only picture I have of it. The left front wheel has supposedly fallen off of it. Broken steering knuckle, I'm guessing.
What do you guys think of it?

That is certainly a County but is it a four or a six cylinder engine? Any chance of a better picture?

A steering knuckle problem would be no major issue but for the wheel to be loose it could be front drive box problems.

The front drives are basically half dif. units with a crown wheel, pinion and short half shaft. Parts are available over here but may be a problem on your side of the pond.

It would be a great acquisition and would be at a premium over here.

Brian

Thanks Brian. That is the only picture I've been able to get, so far. I think it has a 6-cyl. engine. From what I've been told, the front wheel is not just loose, it is completly off of the tractor.

The seller says that A3206 is the model number and it has a 90 hp engine. Can anyone tell me any more about it?
Thanks.

JC.
The A3206 will not be the model number of the County tractor. Maybe a vehicle/asset number for the company that owned it.
It is probably a "Super Six" if it is 90 HP.(unless it has been repowered). After the Super Four, and Super Six models, County started giving their models, numbers that related to their HP. eg. 1004 = 100hp 4WD. 1454 = 145hp 4WD. etc
They are very nice tractors, but are not very good at turning sharp corners. Most parts are available ex UK.
We would love to see more pictures if you buy her.
Good Luck
Kiwi Kev

Hi Kev,
Thanks for the reply. There sure is a lot to learn about these County tractors. Here's a link to one I found that has A2871 for a model number. http://www.agrisalvage.com/auctiondetails.php?itemname=A2871-FORD-COUNTY-TRACTOR-WEST-WALES&id=2370
Could those numbers be County's serial numbers? Were the Super Sixes based on the Major or the 000 series? All the ones I've found on the internet that are called Super Six also had a Model number like 954 or 1124 and looked like the 000 series.
I'd appreciate any more info. I can get.
Thanks

Here's a link to a County crawler with a serial number of BD8493. http://www.tractorshed.com/gallery/tphotos/a828.jpg
I'm guessing that the numbers that I posted before must be County serial numbers, too. Maybe the A is for agriculture and BD is for buldozer. Does anyone know for sure?

JC,
You cannot go by that tractor, it is a heavily modified County built specialy for forestry work. It did not leave County like that. If yours is a forestry tractor then it might have a "A" designation but that will have come from the company who modified it for forestry work. It will be a 1004 underneath all the extra metal.

The first Super 4 was introduced in July 1961, and the Super 6 introduced in 1962. Both these were styled on the Fordson Super Major.

The Super 4 was replaced by the 654 (65 hp, 4WD) in December 1964 and the Super 6 was replaced by the 954 (95hp 4WD), approx June 1965. Both the 654 and the 954 were based on the Ford 5000. The Super 4 & 6 names were carried over to link the two models together. (just like the early Ford 5000's were also badged Super Major).
I stand by my earlier comment that the number A3206 will not be a County model number, and I doubt if it is a serial number either.
I hope this helps.
Like Brian said, still a nice tractor worth having.

Thanks again Brian and Kev. The A---- numbers probably don't mean anything then. Did County put their own serial numbers on the tractors or did they use Fords serial numbers?

Hi lorropark,
It looks like you lightened it up quite a bit. When you figure out how to make it bigger, we will probably be able to see more of it, and maybe I can find out more about it. Thanks for trying to fix it.

I should be able to take some better pictures of it this week-end, because I'm going to load it up and haul it home. ( I know, I said I wasn't going to, Rick C., but I can't help myself!)

lorropark,
click on the link 'faq' at the top right side of these pages. There you'll find what you need to do and how to do it.
I had enhanced the photo on my computer when Jim originally posted it. I'd be interested to see how your Adobe enhancement compares.

JC
I'm thrilled that you changed your mind!!!
I whish I was there to help you haul it JC. Looking forward to more photos.
Cheers,
Rick

Hi Henk,
I seems like every tractor I get is a lot of work, but I enjoy it. I will try to take pictures while I'm working on it. I'll need lots of help from you guys, because I've never seen a County tractor before, but I've always wanted one. There's not very many of them over here, and I don't know very much about them.

I just got my new toy home. Here's a picture of the tag.

I have a lot more pictures to post, but I'll start a new topic for them, so that everyone with dial-up won't have to wait for them to download if they don't want to.
