Water in one cylinder

I`ve had oil / air bubbles in the radiator for a while and tried changing the head gasket to cure it. Started and ran the engine to find bubbles in the rad still, so left it overnight and went back today to start stripping down to do the liners and seals. I drained the coolant, then the sump oil, no...

I screwed a fitting into the filler cap opening on my PM, works fine.Image

The filler hole was a tapered thread so I had to tap it with a parallel tap, I think it was 1 1/2" UNC

Re: roll bar mountings

That's right Ben, so now I`ve got the roll bar I want it fitting properly. If I slide either side on by itself it goes on easily so I`m hoping a bit of tapping will sort it. My main bugbear is that I was looking for a folding bar and family bought that one for my birthday so I`ve got to persevere wi...

Re: roll bar mountings

Its a saw bench Matthias, I keep it on a pallet and move it around with the rear forks, or at least I used to I`ve recently bought a PTO 3 point linkage bench as its quicker to move and set up and also needs less room to work in. Just can`t get rid of the old one. Back on the subject of roll bar att...

Re: roll bar mountings

The bolts for my roll bar are 10" x 5/8" and it needs 4 in total.

It took me ages to find them but they do get advertised on fleabay now, depending where you live. Dave

I`ve recently fitted front and rear lights to my Power Major so I fitted a fuse box as it seemed a good idea. Pavel`s comment about Majors not having a fuse box has made me think how is the lighting circuit protected? Dave

Re: amber warning beacon

Alan, the first thing I would do would be disconnect the current wires from the beacon, fit 2 new lengths of wire and put 12 volts through to see if the beacon works. If it lights, just thread new wires through to the dash and fit a new 12v switch with a fused live feed,if it doesn`t work change the b...

Re: Lift arm travel

Not sure where half the message went but just to say there are two different attachments on the axle for the link arms, two sets of holes on the link arms where they join the lift arms and pins in the lift arms to give more adjustment if you havn`t already tried it Dave

Re: Lift arm travel

Porteus, hope I`m not being too obvious but on the axle there are lower the lift arms, and finally the lift arms have a pin halfway up which can be pulled to raise or lower the lift arms I`ve recently fixed up a 3 point linkage pallet forklift having got a friend to fix the pallet forks to an old ya...

Re: Old Massey small square baler tyre sizes

Only just seen your post but the NH? Super hayliner 268 definitely had different sized tyres, from memory it would have been a 7.50 x 16 on the left hand side and 6.50 x16 or similar setup on the pickup side. The LH side would have been much heavier hence the larger tyre. Did you get the baler going...

Re: Power Major on firewood duty

Cows and Majors, what else could you need? I used to milk Ayreshires here in the UK 35 years ago but the farm sold them and replaced them with Holsteins as did a lot of people. Now some of those same people are crossing the black and whites back to Ayreshires, what comes around goes around. Keep up ...

What a good picture, Walter looks to be at the limit for grip with the front wheels just lifting, the back tyres squat down and just breaking the surface soil and Marc looking cool as if he`s done it sooo many times before!!
Is he sat on the seat or on the axle ? looks really low.

Re: Volvo Rolling

At times you have to make a choice when doing the best you can with the tools availabe if you are going to get a job done. The major was going to roll the Volvo much more easily pulling from the top link than from the drawbar, its a mathematical fact. Achieving the result without mishap while being ...

Re: How to protect topper from rust?

40 years ago I used Ensis oil to protect plough shiny bits between use but didn`t have a clue what it was. I just googled it and it came up as a non drying protective oil. I think covering with plastic would prevent moisture from drying off and encourage rust.

Hi Oehrick, I bought a cast iron bench a couple months ago. It has 2 pulleys and a belt shifter, riving knife and a blade guard, its fitted with a 22" blade, and came with a short flat belt, but I have a longer one on permanant loan from a friend. All in reasonable condition, I paid £100 which was pr...

Re: Where to buy new solenoid?

Simon, your solenoid looks a different type to mine, but it appears on the way out judging from the black melty looking patch on it. When mine failed it nearly ruined the starter by keeping it spinning after the engine had started. Google power major solenoid and you should get plenty of results.I b...
