Just wondering what the N means on the end of the serial number
09A 315317N
According to :
http://www.fordsontractorpages.nl/serial.htm
it is a Nov - Dec 1961, but I cant see any mention of what the N stands for.
Any ideas or a reference

Its one of those anomalies that Ford threw up every now and again. According to the charts, all Super Majors had a letter at the end of their serial number that equated to the month they were made. Perhaps Ford only had one set of letter stamps but very few seemed to be so marked. Mine definitly is not.
"N" was the letter for December so I would suspect that is why you have it on your Dexta.

OK, thanks
This is one I was given, as a 'barely able to run' vehicle. It had been sitting in a shed, with a papper shredder on it to shred newspaper for horse bedding.
Wings had fallen off, 4 flat tyres and battery was kept on charge to start it. Burns and leaks a fair bit of oil, and they used to keep topping it up with used engine oild from oil changes from other vehicles.
I have bolted on some passable wings and foot plates, taken the front end loader off and now working on the electrics.
There is no clock, stop cable or ignition switch. Wiring has been bypassed to make it charge....but when it failed they just disconnected dynamo completely.
Got it running and partially charging last year, and have used it as a yard tractor since then.
Put a sprayer on it last week, and went half way round the field with it and the yoke at the end of the top box lift arm snapped and dumped the sprayer sideways in the field.
Now I have to have that lot off to sort that,I thought I would have a proper go at the dashboard.
Found a working clock, but glass was broken, but had a broken clock with good glass ( it had been under the sea) . So tried to swap the glass. Peeled off the chrome bezel, but the new glass was about 1mm bigger diameter than the old one....no way would it fit.. Flap wheel on die grinder soon sorted that though.
Have re-conned a frozen ignition/lighting switch...posted another post about that to come.

Noticed that most of the 09A's serial numbers that have been posted seem to have either a M or N (Nov/ Dec) following the digits in the serial number so looks like Brian has nailed it again...
Has anyone else located letters following the digits in their serial numbers (other than the Nov/Dec 61 Dextas?)
