Steering drop arm
Steering drop arm
Are there a couple of different ones? Mine on my Super Major extends, what I think, very far out from the steering gear, is there a multitude of different ones or are all the same? And if there are shorter versions, can they be fitted to a steering gear that originally had a longer arm?

As far as I know, they're all the same. The New Holland online parts catalog only lists one part number for them.
Do you have a picture or some measurements?

Unfortunately no on both questions, I just thought mine extended further out than on a couple of older Majors I've seen but I might be mistaken then...

Okay, I'll be somewhere today where I can compare them, will report later if there is any difference in their appearance... a qualified quess otherwise would be that the splines on the shaft of the steering gear might be different...

No measurements here, but after diving through the workshop manual I now know what the differences are...Brian wrote:There are two. E1ADKN3590 from 1952 to 1960 then E1ADDN3590 from 1960 till end of run.
Don't know the difference though.
The super major drop arm is slightly re-designed because of the new clutch pedal(if you fit the older type drop arm on a super major it will interfere with the clutch pedal)

That explains why I thought it didn't extend as far, it's more "sloped"BearCreek Majors wrote:Rear arm is the Super Major, front arm is the Major.
