hi when i conected the battery to my 1961 super major today the controll box and dynamo became hot ,the dynamo very .have i a faulty controll box or dynamo or both any help apreciated thanks

Check which way round you conneted the battery. Should be Positive earth.

is it worth reflashing the dynamo?

last time i had the battery connected it was fine so i can omly think somthing has gone defective thanks

The most likely thing to fail and cause heating would be the control box. This would take out the dynamo as well if the wrong part fails. Also check that you do not have a short circuit in the main wire from the dynamo to the control box.
