Setting up regulator with dynamo

Post by muz »

Hi guys .. the closest article I could find on my problem was this one

http://www.fordsontractorpages.nl/phpbb ... php?t=2323

Basically my 62 SM stopped charging, so I replaced the dynamo with the same type (22A) which cured it except the charge light only went out when the engine was about half revs, so I replaced the regulator too, which did not resolve it .. Ive tried adjusting the regulator without success ? Should I have flashed the dynamo I'm reading in that article ? what should I try next ? :? the tractor is positive earth

You do not say if you have replace with a new one...!
it's likely to be the generator so flash it to see.
unless you have a book on how to adjust, or you know what you are doing, do not try and adjust the regulator.
when the generator is charging it cuts out F=field and there for the light goes out...!
Don't just leave it in the shed, Fordson's are made to work, so take it out and work it....!

Here's a link to a manual that explains a lot about Lucas charging systems.
