Fuel return pipe

Post by Nick »

Hi guys, i am in need of a new fuel return pipe from the head to the tank, which i know i can get from agriline, but the bolt that goes into the head with the slot down the threads to allow the fuel to flow, where do i get these from? And what do i ask for over a counter, i.e 1/4 bsp etc etc.
Rather stupidly i dropped this bolt in the snow earlier and now cannot bloody find it  :curse:
Oh yay, look, another seized bolt! Lets get a hammer.....and some kano.....and some cider!

Nick,
It should have a hole drilled through the center of it, instead of a slot cut in the threads. Over here it would be called a banjo bolt, I'm not sure if its the same over there. I don't know the thread size off the top of my head, but I'll bet someone here does.

Most threads on the Fordson Majors are UNF (unified national fine) or UNC (unified national course).
The fuel return pipe banyo bolt into the head is, 5/16 unf.
Hope this helps

While checking this just now in the shed, I found out my tap and die set has 2x 1/4unf dies, instead of 1x 1/4, and 1x 5/16. :scratchhead:

Ideal thanks guys, i have heard of banjo bolts before, one of my mates dads works for a hose and hydraulics firm. I get all my bits and pieces from him, like he made up a tipping and return pipe for my major, made up all the fuel lines, made a HUGE set of battery leads, free cable ties in their hundreds (im an electrician so this is brilliant).
Its just so frustrating that i dropped this bolt, i was carrying it and a few more from the sump over to my small workshop to clean them up on the bench grinder, and i had it when i left, and not when i got there. Thing is i could just wait for the snow to melt, but that is going to be ages and i want to get it running!

Over here it would be, 1/4 - 20 for NC, 1/4- 28 for NF. 5/16 - 18 for NC, 5/16 - 24 for NF. Dandy Dave!
Have a Fordsonful day Folks!
