Injectors and leak off pipe

Post by Nick »

Just taken the injectors out my major. They came out really easily, and there was loads of black soot stuff over the ends if the injector tips, i take it this is not right!
Also when i unbolted the leak off rail from the injectors, it pulled out the end where it fastens to the head, is there supposed to be an olive on this pipe, because if i retighten the coupling, it still pulls straight out, and i assume it would leak diesel?
Oh yay, look, another seized bolt! Lets get a hammer.....and some kano.....and some cider!

Nick,

What is an olive?
Be sure it wont leak diesel, because it will get into the sump. Enough in it will bring great troubles as you can images.
Kind regards, Henk

Nathan, thankyou, any help would be much appreciated on this.
Henk, an olive is a brass compression end that slides on the end of the pipe, so when the fitting is tightened it grabs the pipe and creates a seal. And yes i can imagine what will happen if the oil level rises too much!
