stubborn grease nipple
hi folks i am having a problem removing the grease nipple on the end of the cross shaft for the brake pedal on my super major i was welding the wear on the shaft and to centre it in the lathe i tried to remove nipple on the end with pliers and the tip of the nipple sheared off i can turn the bit that is left but it doesnt seem to be threaded in i wondered if they were pressed in before i butcher it up i was wondering if anyone else had successfully removed one any tips or ideas would be helpfull
Re: stubborn grease nipple
Hi
I think those greasers on the major are all push fit all the ones ive ever removed are from memory. I have pulled them out with vise grips/ Mole grips or what every you want to call them with a twisting/ pulling motion. or welded a small nut and bolt on the end and made an adapter to screw my small slide hammer on then pulled them like that
.
If it turns in the shaft you can't even drill it and if the hole got messed up thread it or drill it for the next size for a new one I guess.
I hope this helps you a bit, Good luck
Regards Robert
