Fuel pump query
Hi everyone. finally got my injectors back from being reconditioned so work can restart on my major. The fuel pump only squirts fuel out of three pipes, nothing comes out of one at all. After taking the front cover off the pump it looks like one of the plungers is stuck. What can i do about it? I was going to get it running on three cylinders in the hope that it will free itself off

Nick,
Is the plunger moving with the rack (turning) or is it the up and down movement that's stuck. Is the cub under it freely moving?
Try to free it by tapping against the plunger cylinder with some soft metal like a small bar of aluminum or copper. Put some diesel oil on it before you start. Make sure you’re in a clean aria. No stable were you feed the animals or something. Keep it clean.

If ive got to take the pump to be repaired, how do you mark it to put it bacj correctly?

Nick,
You have a few options.
1 Take of the top cover with the cylinder and plunger. Keep it all together. Try to turn and free the plunger. If it comes out. Clean it and put it back wet from diesel and see if it move freely up and down. Even the smalest dust part can block the plunger.
2 You can do the same thing after you have removed the pump. Before you removed it turn the mark on the coupling by turning the engine to the front. Than you can put the pump back by turning the mark on the pump coupling to the front. Connecting it 180 degrees wrong will not start the engine but will do no harm.
3 If nothing works than bring it to a reconditioning comp. These are expensive. You can also buy a reconditioned pump and bring in your pump.

I had the same problem. Soaked the plunger with WD-40 and worked it up and down gently with a screwdriver. Works fine now!

Well i had a fiddle last night, and i got it to drop down again. So turned the engine by hand and it went back up (making a noise like it was a bit tight) and stayed up again, so i reckon if i work it back and forward a few times with plenty of lube it should start working, i will keep you posted.
