unknown piece

Post by benji »

hello everyone

a few months ago i bought a major. i'm now restoring it but on the right side there is a support. does anyone know what it is?

It has a yellow FL head so i guess its an industrial engine. the breather is just a pipe that goes down from the side of the engine, should i change it to a "closed" breather?

thanks a lot

Is that a stud half way down the throttle lever. If so is the piece part of a foot throttle arrangement?

I don't think its a part of a foot throttle as i see now other parts or a print of anything on the paint.
If it was for a tachometer shouldn't there be a part on the engine? where does the cable for the tacho connect to?

Drive is from the oil pump/Auxiliary drive shaft in front of the injection pump. If the clock is missing that might have been taken off too though.

The normal bracket would not fit with this trotlle lever, so it could be a home made bracket. But than again it could be something completly else. The lever is also a bit bend.
mmm, where have I seen this picture before?
Kind regards, Henk

Looking at the picture again I do not think it shows the complete bracket. There looks like a long arm going down and bolting on the gearbox. It could be a cab support bracket for (say) a Lambourne Cab.

Hi Was Just looking at the picture. Its a job to tell from a side picture but is the bracket to stop the hand throttle lever going down to far, to kind of pre set the engine RPMS to the same spot for say pto speed or something along those lines :scratchhead:

There's a thin unpainted line through the middle of it and a bolt hole on either side of that. It looks like a cable was clamped there. I'll guess that its a cable to control the engine speed from the back of the tractor.

It could indeed be a speedcontrole from the back because there is a big crane hanging on the tractor. A stop for the throttle is also possible. i don't think its a cab support as the arm of the crane hangs just over your head.
can anyone help me with the secound question? should i put a breather on the hose that goes down from the engine
thanks everyone for the help
