Whats this bit I need?

Post by halloween »

I apparently have a Power Major with an exchange engine in it, and am currently trying to source a fews bits and bobs for it, but there is one part I have no idea what the name of it is...

Under the tractor, there is an 'A' frame connecting the front axle. At the apex of this 'A', under the engine, it looks like there should be a large-ish pin with a hole in it for a cross pin to go through and lock it in. What would this bit be called? At some time in the tractors past, the pin disappeared and someone has just shoved a loose bolt in the hole.

Thanks in advance

Hello, if you go to the main page of this forum there are manuals and parts list you can download or just look at and see what part you are looking for. There is pin for where you are describing and it is held in place by a large carter pin. I have a 1959 Power Major and there are some pictures back on some old posts of mine that shows you different views of a Power Major. Also I go to New Holland site and can look at parts for the Fordsons. Good luck.

Thanks Gman, I had a look at the manuals but could not find one which detailed this particular bit. I'll scan through your posts and check out the pictures.

Go to, New Holland Agriculture, Then Push, Parts Catalog. Typs in, "FMD" in the search box. Fordson Majors are at the bottom of the list. Go to, Front Axle.. parts are numbers 24,36,37,38,39. There is a change in 1960. Part 36 is early, part 37 is late. Hope this helps. Dandy Dave!

Thanks for that Dandy Dave, I went to New Holland Agriculture, registered for the parts catalogue but nothing relating to FMD comes up. I've searched for 'FMD' 'Fordson' 'Major' and anything else I can think of but it just says 'No Matches Found' This is where the New Holland page took me h**ps://webparts.pvassociates.net/cnh/webparts/main.php

Any chance of sending me the link you have?

Thanks

Hang on! I have to select North America, and then it shows up! Nothing when I log in as Ireland. Thanks again DD

And now it works for Ireland...... I need a day off from computers........
