Hi there,
a friend of mine gave me a call yesterday and he has the following problem. He is doing up a New major from 1953.
He found out the cylinderhead has been badly cracked and welded. So he found another head for it and did a valve job on it.
It turns out the head does not fit this 1953 Major engine.....? Is someone fimiliar with this problem? The decompression lever on this engine is in the head itself instead of in the valvecover. Where can we find a correct head for it?
Hope you can help
Best Regards
Bart

Decompresser in head 1951 to 1954 approx. Decompresser in valve cover 1954 onwards. Perhaps he could fit all the original fittings from the hew head? Otherwise do away with the decompresser.
The head will fit but check the manifold porting. He might have a 1954 with the new straight ports. He may also have the later head bolts.
