overall width of 1960 power Major
I have just got hold of a 1960 power major, it is on 14-30 rear tyres, but reversed, I have to travel 300 miles to collect the tractor, does anyone with a power/super major have the overall width of the 14-30 tyres setup normally.
under 180cms will fit on trailer, over we have a problem
Thanks Keith

Re: overall width of 1960 power Major
Thanks Dandy Dave.
Whats the internal width of your trailer ?
We are working on a back up plan, of loading with one rear wheel off, perhaps with the axle on a dummy frame on casters.
Thanks again

My trailor deck is 83 inches between the fenders. Which converted is 211 CM. It is a steel flat deck with two axles. The Fordson Power Major is about the limit for towing weight as the trailor is rated for 7000 LBS, which includes the weight of the trailor itself. Dandy Dave!

Re: overall width of 1960 power Major
build up the floor on the trailer with some wood blocks and put the rear wheels on those? I did that on my trailer to get the power major on it...

Here are a few from early spring when I had it on a 35,000 Watt Generator. A very bad ice storm took down the power poles around here and we were not connected for 10 days. Dandy Dave!

How about changing Right for Left to get the width less, they look very wide for that tyre size and the wheels usually have fixed centres. The other way would be to reverse the wheels on the same side. Tread would be wrong but it would get her on the trailer.

Why Looky There, It has Silver Grills like it should!
Someday I'm going to repaint mine the right color. Even with the wheels set in the narrow position, he said his trailor is too narrow by atleast 10 CM. Dandy Dave!

Re: overall width of 1960 power Major
Had a idea, let tyres down a little, as trailer has low sides, put the wheels up on say a 10cm blocks, the tryes would only have to be pushed in 5cms a side by the trailers sides to alow on, any thoughts ?
also any one any tips on starting, it as its not run for 4 years.
Keith
Thanks everyone, first time using the forum it great getting help this way http:

Any chance of borrowing a set of 11x36 to get her home. I took an E27N to Holland last year riding on her drawbar and blocks with the wheels strapped behind. Mine is a 14' trailer, 78 " wide.

Re: overall width of 1960 power Major
Not at the moment, not enough contacts here in Brittany, plus Major wheels not very plentiful around here.
If when the wheels are reversed she’s still to wide, we are thinking of making up a trolley with a axle stand welded on it, then with one rear wheel removed,
then run it up on to the trailer on 2 angle iron tracks clipped on the ramps with the axle stand fixed to stabilizer bracket, and strapped to the front axle to keep it running with the tractor while wincing it on.

You can't borrow, or rent a wider trailor??? It would save a lot of trouble. Dandy Dave!

Yes, I have been looking at that, but around here the only ones I can find to hire are only 2.56 ton mglw. Plus are big bucks per mile.
Dandy Dave, if you have time could you please measure the height to the bottom rear axle, and the rear wheel nuts centres, cheers
