Chaps,

Ann and I are starting our journey to the show this afternoon. We are taking a round-about route that will take in a short trip to Harsewinkel to bring back memories of combines in the 1970's. Not that I need a lot to start recalling those days.

My friend Colin came round yesterday morning, one of his clients had a problem with a New Holland 8060. We soon had all the books out and had it sorted.

Hopefully I will be able to get the laptop working on this trip and be able to keep in contact but could you all please keep an eye on the site just in case of problems.

We are hit at least four times a day with some idiot who changes the "Wiki" page to "naughty and medical" adverts etc. It is quite simple to change back and anyone can do it. Just click on the "History" on the left of the screen then "restore" and the job is done.

I know Mike and the others will look after the "naughty" posters and Oscar and I will keep looking in to keep things running smoothly but at times we need all the help we can get. This "Work" thing keeps getting in the way and "Holidays" seem to come a close second.

Whilst we are on the subject of site security, I took the decision along with Oscar and Mikes approval, to ban "hotmail" e-mail addresses from this site. This is because a high number of the "naughty" and other attacks were showing "hotmail" addresses. A number of businesses here in England will not accept any contact from "hotmail" clients. I am sorry for this if it causes any problems for genuine members of this site, but all I can say is our problems have been greatly reduced in the months since I acted.

I agree with Brians' sentiments on the Wiki pages. He wrote this post just before 7 this morning and, by 9:30 it had been 'hit' at least twice so, keep an eye on it chaps.

Well chaps,

We have done it again! As soon as we drove off the boat, the sun came out and it has been warm and sunny all day!

Been to Museum Plain in Amsterdam and watched model power boats in the lake, ridden in trams, seen the pictures and displays in the Reichsmuseum and the van Gogh museum as well. Also listened to the music played by a group from the back of a lorry in the middle of the park. The first performer was a great jazz pianist but when some of the others joined in the music reverted to a boring repetitive few notes that went on and on and on. Still the young people in the crowd were singing along and dancing so they liked it

We left Amsterdam and drove across the " roads across the sea" to Franeker in Friesland where we will be staying for a few days. The Dutch certainly enjoy water

there were hundreds of sailing boats out on the water as we drove across and also thousands of sea birds in the little inlets that have been created for them.

The tall ships are in a harbour close to where we are staying so we shall be visiting there tomorrow.

Pity I have missed you in Amsterdam...me and my wife

living close to Amsterdam. About 7 miles away.

I am looking forward to hear other holiday-stories from you next Saturday in Meddo/Winterswijk.

Has anyone over here got a larg trailer that will fit behind Rover?

Not more than a mile from where I am sitting at Franeker, there are not one but two Dextas for sale. One Super Dexta and a Dexta New Performance. Ann has me on a short leash

Then you could say to all the visitors, Ann and you came all the way from the UK driving on the tractor!

Hello Brian,

You can use our beavertail trailer, which fits behind your Landrover.

You can load is up to 3000 kg, so a dexta will fit without problems.

be carefully when driving in the netherlands. Because on sunday 21 september is a CARFREE day (no driving by car allowed) in following sities Amsterdam, Zoetermeer, Maassluis, Eindhoven, Voorst, Roermond, Nijmegen, Tilburg, Gouda, Arnhem, Maastricht, Cuijk, Oss, Rotterdam, Goes, Bergen op Zoom, Culemborg, Haarlem, Assen, Roosendaal and Breda.

Two years ago Emiel was so kind to paint the fenders of his Fordson white so we all knew, it was his tractor.

Great day with our friends and the ladies! The weather is absolutely gorgeous, the company great and again we have seen and discussed a variety of things ranging from world affairs to all types of tractors.

We are waiting for our table in the hotel dining room at the moment when the fun will start again.

Emiel asked why Ann and I come back every year. Its to meet our friends, new and old, and to enjoy your company. Thank you all for coming and for those who could not make it, if you can, join us next year!

You arrange the transport and the hotel, I will arrange the weather.

Tomorrow the food stalls set up. The sausages and dried meats will be fantastic.

Great photos, Pascal! Thanx! And yes, Brian sure lover those Güldner tractors. If he hadn't bought Dotty recently, then my guess is he might have bought an old red Güldner masterpiece. They're really great tractors.

Thats because in the Netherlands was not a factory which produced tractors (accept 2 small firms) and all the tractors where imported from everywhere. On every show here in holland you see thet differend brands, Iff you go for example to Gemany its only the german marked you see overthere.

Here are my picture of the weekend.
It was great meeting up again with Brian and Ann, Jos with his wife and daughter and Emiel with his girlfriend and his father and Pascal. Pity we did not meet Frans, I was late getting there and you were leaving early. Well next year next change. Great show great whether and great subjects. We had a wonderful diner at the hotel, and after the lady’s went to bed the three us kept talking and meanwhile we had some refreshments. There must be something put in it, because the lads told me I wake up half the hotel with my singing. Can’t remember a thing of it.
On our way just a head of Meddo there was this cow giving birth to a calf. We stopped to take some pictures. Janneke had never seen it in real live.
On Sunday the guy next to Emiel’s place was showing a PETROL DEXTA from Denmark, so Brian was very interested in it and Emiel his father bought a Dexta, so there was a lot to check out.
Pascal, we seem to have the same interest in things because we took pictures from some same subjects.
Emiel thank you for your hospitality, and hopefully we will all meet next year.

Hello al,

We had a wonderfull weekend in Meddo. It started friday with the trip to Meddo. This year I drove another way as I usually do. I passed the Golden Tulip Hotel, where Brian and Ann were staying. There was our first meeting for this year, they were in the car and had to wait for the roundabout till I was of the roundabout.

My girlfriend and I spent the night on the festival area, and were awake early in the morning. Lots of tractors, cars and lorry's were coming to the show. We could see them coming in while we were having our breakfest. Later Brian, Ann, Henk and Janneke showed up, and we had a talk and a lot of fun. Also Pascal and Jos found their way to Meddo, and one of our new members, Frans came in.

I can not tell the complete story, which would take far too long, but we had a lot of fun, and nice talks.

The Sunday was perfect as well, as we met up again with Brian, Ann, Henk an Janneke, and there were even more beatiful tractors to see.

But unfortunately, all good things come to an end, and so the Meddo show also. Good friends were going home and we had to go home as well.

Connected the trailer to the tractor, and what did I see? Some idiot pulled of the lighting socket. So I had to fit a new socket. Fortunately my cousin, who was there on his M***** F******* 135 bought a new socket that afternoon. So after an extra half our of work everything worked fine and we could travel home. Tried to put one extra tractor on the trailer, which didn't work, and we ended up with a dramatically loaded trailer for the way home.

That one extra tractor is a Dexta which my father bought on the show. But you guys will hear more about the tractor in the future.
I picked it up yesterday evening about 9 o'clock. The engine was cold, but started well. (without ether of course).

When I got home, I got to bed and slept immediately. It were some tough days, friday a lot of work to get the tractors prepared and to Meddo, a very good party at home saturday night, late at bed and early out of bed to go to Meddo, but it was worth it.

Hi Mark,
There was indeed a great number of different brands on this show. As Frans said,it is partly in the fact, that's The Netherlands didn't have an own (big) tractor manufacturer.
The sorts of brands also differs per region in The Netherlands.
At Meddo (close to the German border) there were quite some Germans brands. The festival in Rhoon (close to Rotterdam) had quite some full options Fordsons.
In my region (Amsterdam) there's a nice mixture, but for example very little Hanomags. The Fordsons we have here are not as fully equipped as in Rhoon.

Did you made some(detailed) pictures of the Fordson 6 cilinder? I didn't see it at saturday.

Its a pitty we missed eachother but we will meet in the next time somewhere, liked you pictures too as Pascal said we all like the same tractors. esspecially the Fiat with 4 wd thats a nice one.

Wooden shoes and a bonnet ?? what will that be in the next weeks?
