My Fordson New Major, bought on E-Bay, arrived today. To say I am delighted is an understatement. She is a 1953 tractor (1267561) and the two casting codes I have found so far are both Sept 1953. I am looking forward to registering her for road use and gradually getting her back in good decorative order. (She has clearly been under cover all her life, with little rust and in pretty good shape for a 59 year old.
I drove one of these as a kid, and the noise when we fired up the engine took me back to the early 60s is a way I had not expected.
Got it!

Welcome to the board and congratulations on getting an iconic tractor. The noise is something that I too remember well. Problem is that they do not make the original silencers any more, the new ones quieten them down too much!
I am going to try one from an E27N on Henrietta one day although the one I have at the moment is very good. Being a petrol/paraffin engine she tends to eat silencers as the later ones were not as strongly built.

A little bit of work to do, but matching numbers and casting codes (Sept 1953) and not a lot of rust since I think it's been kept under cover all its life.
