SUPER DEXTA GEARBOX SELECTOR PROBLEM

Post by toms FORD »

main gear lever come out of selector rail gate. I have replaced selector rail gates but the problem is still there. When operating the main gear lever it feels as if the lever moves too far back or forward. Any ideas as to how to fix this ?

How worn is the gear lever. These are prone to excessive wear allowing them to jump out of the selector rail.

As a matter of interest, is the Gearbox noisy and clunky, ??

I had the same problem , it's a common one. Weld onto bottom of gear lever and buff to size to fit in selector making the fit tighter ,that cured the problem for me

I have just fitted a new gearbox top cover complete with new levers and I still have the problem. It seems that the seelector rail moves too far allowing the gear lever to come out of the gate.

 It can happen when the Top Shaft bearing and the Main Shaft spigot bearing get worn out, This allows the top shaft assembly to wobble about.and move , can also jump out of second gear, Jim. :eyes:
