i have a 1963 n/p super major, with a live drive backend ( of course) but at the moment it has only a single stage clutch in it (previos owner fault) so i was wondering which way the high/low now works as to know which gear im in ! as im not sure weather high is up or down !!?? i wasnt sure if the clutch made a massive differance to drive ratio but considering the plate on dash id for live drive dual stage clutch i wonder if high/low were still the right way around !?

Drive it and find out. Put it in first and drive. Then put it to the other setting. Whichever one is faster is high range.

Dual clutch high is up. Single clutch high is down normally. The lever configuration does not make a difference with the gear ratio. Only the ring and pinion gears do of which the Supers had a choice of two. Dandy Dave!

ok thanks guys. do i really need a dual clutch anyway !? as im in the middle of a restoration- im not sure weather to place a dual clutch in it for originality- or just replace the plates in the single and keep it the way it is !? as im not going to be using it for any work that will involve pto work !?.

You cannot have a Live Clutch and a Standard Gearbox or visa-versa.
Sounds like you have a tractor where the whole gearbox has been changed along with the clutch, what we on here call a Fordson ASP (All Spare Parts).
Have you checked if there is a pin in the frame surrounding the clutch pedal under the foot plate? This would make the clutch seem like a single clutch even if it was a Live Drive, (Dual Clutch).
Make sure the rear axle really is a New Performance as the hydraulic lift is different. A NP lift has a screw in drop restrictor valve near the Hi/Lo lever, on the front of the lift casting.

If I have read this right, you are writing that you have two clutch plates. If this is true then you already have a live drive clutch. Photos would help. He may be set and does not even know it Brian.
