200 Members

Post by Bensdexta »

Oscar, Brian and Team,

Congratulations on achieving 200 members, from all around the world! And welcome to all new members!
Thanks for a great website helping so many of us getting and keeping our old Fordsons running.
Given the quality of the information and advice available here, I'm sure the site will go from strength to strength.
All the best,

Ben

Thanks Ben,
But we are still well down on the 700 plus that we had when we grew too big for the old board. I was approaching 3000 posts.

That was why Oscar had to change the board, you were getting too many posts.

Ben. You will notice that the membership number goes up and down all the time. This is because we get undesireable's joining, with links to undesireable websites. They are then removed, hence the number flutuating.
You will also notice that there is just about always a guest or 2 online, which is good to see. Its not only members that get great assitance/advice from the knowledge on the board.

Sometimes that guest is me, Kev. I don't always sign in when reading new posts. I don't sign in automatically, and only sign in when I want to post.

I wondered why that was. Seems half of prospective new members are undesirables. Where do they come from?
All the best,
Ben

Ben,
Seems half of prospective new members are undesirables.
A lot more than half, I estimate at least 8 attempts per day are deleted by one of us.
Where do they come from?
All over the world, literally. These are generally attempts, using automated programs, to try and join so they can keep posting messages offering blue picture and films (not Fordson related) or erectile medication, that sort of thing.

I am 'laughing my socks off' whilst trying to edit this post.
Oscar has been VERY clever. Everytime I try and type the word that describes the type of picture or film, he has set up to automatically change it to 'tractor' and when I try and type the name of the medication, it gets changed to 'Dexta' - Brilliant

Trouble is now, when you guys inform us that you've posted more 'tractor' pictures, I'm not going to be sure if that's what you really meant.

Who needs medication when you've got a Dexta!
