Nice story Brian, I actually had a bit of a lump in my throat after reading it, must be the personel touch and sentiment you have for your big toys. Tilly looks a very interesting trailer, am I correct in assuming she has two sets of hydraulic rams, one to tip and another to raise her higher off the ground, almost like a sissor jack?
Kind regards
Mervyn

Kind regards

Mervyn,
There are two rams on the axle to body for lifting up and a third to do the actual tipping. As you say, just like a scissor jack. at one time this kind of trailer was known as a "scissor lift".

Thanks for that Brian, I have just lost myself for an hour reading/re-reading the Wiki articles. I'm waiting for you to finish the Henrietta Engine Rebuild saga.
In hindsight what is amazing is how engineers of our generation have adapted and progressed from the dirty and heavy work of our youth to the relatively clean and light work associated with electronics! As a dyed in the wool "hands on" engineer, I viewed the advent of automation and computers with suspicion but, now as a convert I cannot imagine being without them.
