I suspect that the reason that the glow plugs are failing is due to the fact that the tips are in the spray/flame path of the injectors!

In this instance the plugs are nearly at right angles to the injector, whereas in engines which are designed to be fitted with glow plugs the angle between the plugs and the injectors is smaller and one can assume that the tips are not directly in the spray path.

A little update
had time to investigate the system today. The glowplugs are perfectly ok. The only reason they didn't work was a bad connection due to rust on syl no. 3 were the cable comes in. The plugs have been in there for 4 years now, so the conclusion is that they survive this very well

I just noticed your front wheels and I'm wondering if they are original?
I don't recall seeing split rims on one of these tractors before.

No they are not original. They are some previous owner's installation.. Somebody said in the Finnish forum that they are from horse powered trailer

I found original wheels but they are still missing tires..

Next I have to start to assemble the electronics. New wiring harness will need some mods because of new alternator..

I am really enjoying this build up and restore. I know how much effort you putting into this project and your rewards will be plenty. I also appreciate all the photos you are posting. Its a pain sometimes to remember to not only take the pics, but upload and resize ect.... Well done and thank you so much.... Your pics will help others when their Dextas get their turn at becoming new again....

Thanks When I start a project I like to take lots of pics, because one picture tells more than 1000 words Especially pics taken while disassembly are useful when you are putting all back together.
