Hello
I have a 1953 FMD. The casting codes indicate Febuary. The air filter is under the bonnet and I think it is
pretty original. Recently it has started backfiring (great for scaring birds!). I had a look at the injector
coupling and it is missing a claw bolt. Does anyone know what dimensions this bolt is?
Thanks
Dominic

Re: Backfiring Engine
Do you mean a bolt in the coupling from the diesel pump and the drive shaft from the timing gear?
If you are missing one and it's backfiring you have to time it again.
There are two. One to clamp: 5/16 -24x2 The other one for the timing: I think 5/16 also, but can’t find the rest of the sizes.
