Ford county 1164 lubricants and specs

Post by pateling »

Hi everyone, I´m new to this forum and have the following questions.
we have just removed the back axle cover of our county 1164 as pto would not stop spinning. What fluid do we put in? and how much? as that which came out was horrid, full of water and crud. Would it be UTF?

we don´t have any papers with it or handbook so if anyone could help out it would be great

Ps The tractor is in Spain. we are a NGO and don´t have much experience with tractors.

Thanks in advance :D

Welcome to the board.

An 1164 is basically the same as the Ford 5000/7000 range so the oils will be the same as those.

Engine ... Low ash SAE 30 Series 3 or SAE 10/30W
Gearbox and Rear Axle ... M2C134B or M2C134C.

Most Universal oils should contain the "anti-squark" additives for the oil immersed brakes but it is best to check with your supplier. Castrol MP is the one that comes to mind.

Depending on what you are doing with the tractor, if you are going to use her hard then the Universal oil would be great in the engine but if you are doing light work I would stick with the SAE 30 or SAE 10/30 as the additives in Multi-purpose oils tend to cause cylinder bore glazing during light use.
