Later minimic pump bracket

Post by 1su9pm6aj4 »

Hi all,
I posted this same question on a different thread but not sure it would get a look. I think whatever bracket or attachment configuration holds the front of my injection pump to the engine block is lost. It's a mechanical advance pump so no sure it attaches the same way as the older pump. I tried finding a picture but could not. Could someone tell me what I am looking for?

Thanks

Kerry

Matt, thanks for the picture, I see the two retaining bolts at the front of pump. The mounting bosses on the block do not line up with those particular bolts so the bracket must be sort of complex. I have a call into a wrecker for a spare, hope he has one as making one would be tedious and require precise measurements, along with tools I do not have.

Here's a photo from another angle, taken when I was stripping down the engine - hence the filth!

Matt, Adrian,

Thanks for the pictures,I sent them out to a large multi state wrecking yard. The sales person told me he had at one time 30 majors, only 2 were supers. Not looking good :( . Another curious thing he said is that a business in England buys all the Fordson Major sheet metal he can send.

Hi Kerry
As you've probably heard, we do rain here better than most places! Finding unrusted sheet metal on a Major is a rare find. Would I be right in thinking you have a relatively dry climate? Forgive my ignorance if you're living under a constant downpour too!

Hi Adrian ,

Yes I can understand you needing the good sheet metal, but I hate seeing Fordson parts leaving the u s as we have few majors over here to pick from. I guess I cannot blame the wreckers over here for selling the parts since they likely sell very few parts to very few clientele like me.
Update.... The powder coater had my bracket, I rightfully thanked The Lord above, then grinned and picked up the recent box of parts he had finished for me. A sigh of relief came over me as I had not heard back from any of the wreckers that had calls out to 7 states looking for the part. Can almost bet they did not have one.

Thanks again for the pictures

Kerry

Hi Matt,

The only tin work I need done are the wings/fenders. The sheet of tin is fine, however the curved brackets holding them have been rusted through in the lower portion and re strengthened with pieces of plate steel. A bad job, just looks horrible. I will have to figure out how to re box the lower section so it looks presentable. Got the head ports mildly smoothed in tonight, left the starter and generator with a shop that will check/fix them.

Still stumped on re assembly of power steering. I have had it all together a couple times but don't think the split sleeve at the end of the tube that captures the last ball joint should hinder movement of the inner ball joint which controls the direction of flow of the hydro valve, but it does. The sleeve butts up against an inside smaller tube which holds the hydro valve and should have about a half inch of movement directing flow of fluid to either ram out, or ram in. What it does do when I assemble it is stop movement of the valve . Any ideas?
