Hi all,
Still trying to get various sub assemblies working, Just got spindles back from machinist who installed new bushings. A small bit of slop left but passable.
I am having trouble understanding the power steering ram workings and getting it back together correctly. If anybody can check out the drawing from the New Holland website for the ram cylinder, power steering, gas , diesel link for a NP '64 Super Major, Maybe I can explain by referencing the sequence #'s of parts to show you my dilemma.
hope this makes sense, and thanks to anyone who takes time to walk through this with me.
If you take from part 8 through part 27, it all slides back and forth inside tube #1 to allow fluid into valve ports . Here is my dilemma. The steering ball stud # 65 rides inside #6 spacer which is open on the bottom, it also rides between #'s 2 thru 7. # 9 is a threaded plug that holds #11 inside #15 which is in turn inside #18. Keeping in mind that #11 is the ball joint that activates the valve movement therefore it has to slide back and forth. The problem I cannot seem to figure out is.......When I install ball joint #65 inside its spacer #6 which is inside the ram tube #1 along with two end caps #5 & 7 then tighten down #3 collar (Threads into Tube #1) against #6 sleeve which sits on end cap #7, all movement of the valve stops because #3 threaded collar has butted #6 spacer up against #7 ball cup which sits on the end circles of #15 and #18. this disallows movement of valve. B T W #15 goes inside #18. Hope your not all laughing at this puzzling way of describing things but if you are, laughter is good for the soul! I guess I should thank anyone again for even taking the time to look at this, thanks!
Kerry.

All I can say is, if the Valve does not move, you have something wrong. I would need it in front of me to see what the problem is. Dandy Dave!

Thanks Dave,
I found a shop that will look at it if I provide a drawing. Thanks to New Holland, I printed one out. kerry
