To put your minds at rest, the tractor in question was one that was well beyond repair. There was nothing rare about it.
I received it in the condition you see it after it had been left in a field for years. The geabox was totally trash internally, top layshaft bearings had dropped and it had been driven like that till it locked up. Bits of bearing shell caught up between gear teeth, some ripped off and a piece caught and somehow pushed out the side of the casing. It had previously been used on the beach, possibly been under the tide, so I was told. King pin steering bushes gone, and worn through the outer tubing
The owner had 5 others, all scrappers and had to get rid of them all as he was being forced off his farm. I took them so they would not get taken straight down the scrap yard and crushed. That is what would have happened to them. They 3 got passed on to good homes, the other 2 stripped for parts
The row crop rear wheels, engine, front axle have been kept. The gearbox casing was cracked before I started on it, fuel tank was totally beyond repair. Steering box has been re built already and is on one of my other Dextas. As many other parts that were good have been saved. Kept the engine even though block was cracked and head warped.
And to Kiwi Kev, it had nothing at all to do with wanting to get on the internet, the bloke filmed me on his phone and put it up without my knowledge...so get your facts correct before spouting crap.
Try reading the comments below the video which I posted when someone else made comments, and the chap that posted the video forwarded the link of the video to me.
The cost of Snap-On tools is v. expensive here in the UK, a new 1/2 drive, flank drive 6 point chrome snap-on socket retails for about £15 or around 30 USdollars. I am not in the habit of throwing away good tools.
I also needed a lump of the cast material to repair the top of the current dexta gearbox, where the 4 set screws hold the gear levers down. The corner had cracked off across one of the holes, so I had to grind out the corner, weld a repair piece in, re-profile it externally, and drill and tap it again.

I saw the running boards, and said to myself, those look like they could be salvaged. I had to make me a set out of aluminum, couldn't find any over here. They work alright though. I also would like to have a original dynamo, when mine quit, and we just put the Chevy alternator on it, and we threw the old one in the scrap pile. Didn't know what I was doing in those days, like I do now.
So that was you beating the Dexta with a hammer? The gearbox's on our blue darlings will certainly take a beating that's for sure.
Are you a breaker Npaisnel? I bet it breaks your heart to see these beautiful tractors sitting in the trees beyond repair. I saw one going up the highway last week on a flatbed trailer, it was in pretty good shape. I have a friend that has a Dexta but it's not a runner, and he wants $900 bucks for it. Maybe someday I'll get that one and bring it home and bring her back to life.

Yes, that is me with the hammer, and you are right, they can take a hell of a lot. Since it was already cracked I thought it would be quick to knock a hole out the bottom but was I in for a shock.
Have 2 running Dextas,and parts of one scrapper left to get parts off. Middle of last summer there was a row of 3 dead ones down the bottom of the yard and about 8 old Series 2 and 3 Landrovers.
Landlord wanted the place tidied up a bit, and they had put the rent up from 4000 pounds sterling to 9000, so needed to clear space and start renting bits out for boat storage etc.
If you want those foot plates, I can send them, and dynamo, control box, whatever you want. Even a whole tractor or 2, but I reckon the freight costs would be prohibitive. I know of at least two others and a Ransomes MG2 crawler sitting in a collapsed shed that you have to crawl through brambles to get to. Owner maybe willing to sell.
Now,
If you do want to see some mindless destruction,.....of an old Jaguar car....but again dont worry, nothing rare about it, not worth restoring, and a local restorer/owner took any good parts off it, some before the abuse, and some after. It was one of his spares that was not worth restoring.

They fetch very good money. Seen them for sale around the 25,000 pound area.
Yes, engine seemed ok, gearbox did not have the top two gears I seem to remember, or missing one somewhere. All of the inside was destroyed. Previous life had been used as a fishermans car, carting bait/fishing rodes, nets, etc, rusted through underneath with salt water. Fuel tank we used was a 5 litre can in the boot (trunk) with fuel being fed via an aircraft electric fuel pump....wired to the lighting circuit I think.
Was there by any chance a front drawbar hitch point saved from those tractors? I have all the draw bar parts but I am missing the front hitch that bolts up under the rear axle with 4 bolts and has a pin through it to hold the drawbar.
I have got the one for the rear but no pin for that, and I have the swinging bit complete with original pins.

I have not had time to look yet, but while I was away, found a farm /campsite littered with old tractors and farm kit.
Still a working farm
They had mainly Fergys, but I was told there was a Dexta amongst the nettles.
Do a search for Norden Farm Camp site near Corfe, may be you could contact them and see if they had a part. I believe it is Jonathan you will need to speak to.
Sorry Brian, no front drawbar linkage. Been going through all my parts to day to find a RB108 regulator, I know I have a spare working one....somewhere.
Many thanks for looking, I got a brand new one for £11.00 complete with pins from a local parts store. What I am now looking for is the clevis which bolts on the top of the drawbar to form a jaw.

Never remember seeing many drawbars at all.
I only recall ours ever having the standard trailer hitch or nothing at all. But if I ever come across one I'll let you know
