Help needed identifying 3 tractors
Re: Help needed identifying 3 tractors
One of the problems is that in most cases you are quoting casting mould numbers that do not identify the tractor as they are the same on all that model. Check out the Wiki ( log in details: "fordsontractorpages", password: "dotty") from the headings on this forum. Here you will find the position of Serial Numbers and all relevant casting codes positions. Post what you find and we can then help further.
As a start:
Super Major: 4B19 = 1964, February 19th, THis should indicate a New Performance Super Major.
Ford 5000:
Model Number:
Not recognised as any tractor from the Ford Range. Model Number should be E (5000), 10 (Agricultural), 1 (Diesel), 4 (Independent PTO), C (8 speed gearbox). This is only an example and letters and numbers will differ if tractor is not standard spec as quoted here.
Chassis Number: Ford 5000 after 1968
Engine Number; 1970, March 2nd, The last "D" is wrong as no "D" was used so I am guessing it should be "B" which indicates Day Shift.
Date: 3rd April 1970 is the date of first registration not the date of the tractor although they would have been pretty close together at that time.
Ford 4000:
Serial Number: Looks OK for a 4000.
Model Number: See above. 4DF could be part of a date code.
Engine Number: 1971, November 25th, Day shift.
Other Numbers: 1971, August 23rd, and 1971, August 2nd, Day shift.
Hope this helps a bit.

Many, many thanks Brian, Unfortunately the wiki down at the minute. By the way how can I identify or determine the horse power ?
Re: Help needed identifying 3 tractors
You have a good spread
Roughly: Super Major = 55hp
4000 = 65hp
5000 = 75hp

Many thanks Brian. Having spent hours looking for Series and Individual tractor spec's I guess your welcome feedback is as close as its possible to get to actual model details. Best wishes for the new year.
