 Your too kind Mike. I'm just a plodder with this sort of stuff. Like you, I don't allow it to beat me, so I research and fiddle etc.

I have had other things to deal with recently so I haven't been visiting these pages. Now I've caught up with this thread I just thought I'd try a couple of things and I might have found a reason and solution for the missing pictures in IE6 browsers.

I use Firefox 3.0.6 and have always been able to see the images in this thread. However, I opened up IE6 and got no images at all. So I investingated the setting for IE6. The first one that I suspected might be a problem turned out to be it. As soon as I changed it, I got all images in IE6. Here is what I changed:

Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>(UNCHECK the tick box for) Use Passive FTP(for firewall and DSL modem comapibility)

Let us see if that helps people. I have no experience with Vista at all (never even seen it) so I can't help there unless it has a similar tick box like IE6 which it probably has.

Hi Rick,
I have Vista with IE7. After I unchecked the Passive FTP box, I could see Ocsars train pics. Why were Oscar's the only ones that I couldn't see?
Thank you for the help.

Hey Rick,

Your'e right!
I managed to find one that wouldn't work, unchecked 'Use Passive FTP' and Hey Presto! Pictures :)
I knew it would be worth 'dragging you in' :D

Brian
try Ricks' suggestion and Untick 'Use Passive FTP'.

That's what's good about 'our club', everyone is prepared to 'muck in'.

I do not have anything ftp related in my "Advanced " folder on 98SE. Will keep checking on the other computers as and when I get a chance.

Hi Mike

I'm receiving your pictures very well. Even the train locomotive pic comes up fairly quick. I followed Rick's suggestion about unticking the FTP box. Well done Rick.

Kind regards
Mervyn

Brian, you may be looking in the wrong place. The instruction I gave related to the menu bar in Internet Explorer 6. Not Windows. Sorry if I confused anyone.

Rick,

I went into "internet tools" as you suggested but we are still on Explorer 5 with 98 SE. Computer is old and does not have the capability for Explorer 6. But its got too much stuff on that will not change to a more uprated one.

We also have to remember that some of our friends are still using Windows 95 too.

Brian and Mike,
I have to say, I've had my reservations about trying to achieve a One Stop Photo Repository that would solely service this BB using this method that is.
I do have another way it can be achieved and I will send an email to both of you and to the CHIEF, Oscar.
When Oscar started moving the site from the old server to this new one, I really wanted to suggest this alternative then but he and his friend were already beyond the point of change back then.
Will be in touch directly.
