Engine Swap

Post by poppyteal »

I have a E1A Major 1957 Live drive and the engine has gone. I have the offer of a FORDSON POWER MAJOR ENGINE SERIES 2 ENGINE (I believe) this is NON live drive. If I swap the engines do I have to swap the flywheel and clutch off my old unit..? i.e is the gearbox different for the live drive clutch/flywheel interface?

Hope this makes sense.

Kind Regards
Martin.

Yes you will need to swap the flywheel and clutch. Be careful when you put it back together as you have two sets of splines to line up. The Power Major engine is exactly the same unit as you have in your Mk 2 FMD with a bit more power.
