Rotating gear lever

Post by mathias1 »

My gear lever can be turned around for 360°. I assume this isnt a special option.
Where do I start? Or is a new lever and housing the only option?
Thanks!

Locking pin in gear lever housing is worn out.

Remove four bolts and take gear lever off, lever off circlip at top of spring, gear lever will come out of the bottom of housing.

Repair pin by making/fitting a new one. pin knocks out of housing, build up slot in gear lever if required. Reassemble, stand in vice and refit spring.

With a ring spanner just the size of the circlip, put circlip on lever, place spanner over circlip and hit with hammer. Circlip will pop back into the groove.

Job done.

I'm not a blacksmith, but it works well. I made it out of a piece of reinforcing steel for concrete constructions :-)
Nexttime I need to get some extra tools to let it look more professional.

my gear stick knoble seems still fine.
