pipe between aircleaner and rockercover

The connection pipe between the rocker cover and the air cleaner has always been missing on my NP major since I bought it that way. What sort of tube was used for this, maybe same rubber hose as the cooling? And is there a need for an engine breather, or where these omitted on later engines (mine is an Ebro replacment)

Mine has a steel or alu pipe bended in a S shape. If both hles are there I think you have to install one.
