Evening all,
Iv just been offered a pair of wheel strakes for my super.
My question is do these bolt through the 5 empty holes between the
wheel nuts and the 8 outer rim bolts??
If any one has any pictures that would be awesome

Could make sense, since these holes are also used to bolt the double wheels on.

These are Stanhay "Darville" retractable wheel strakes. They were very useful in the 1950's and 1960's when the weather was wetter even than today (!) and field drainage was not so good. If you are fitting them just for show think carefully - they are very noisy and rattle when running on the road!

Thanks Shepp,
I’m wanting to put them on for work, we have a few fields that are fairly wet and the access isn’t big enough for the 10Ton fendt so thought I would give the old girl an annual job.
Unfortunately the strakes at the neighbours didn’t fit, they only had 4 mounting points instead of 5.

Strakes were designed to be used on Diesel and Power Majors.
Not wise to fit them to a Super. They are incompatible with a diff lock.

My father was in the REME.
As a boy, I remember driving with him in one of the first Range Rovers. We had returned to the road, and the central diff lock light wouldn't go out. He put one set of wheels on the verge and took to the fields where possible until we got home.
Mann Egerton then came and collected it.
Lesson being, with a diff lock engaged you need wheel slippage to avoid transmitting unbearable forces inboard to the gear train. The weakest link will be equal to the forces, or something will break.
Turns out on the Major that a tooth on the crown wheel, though tough as hell, will be the thing to give up.
