Straight 6,
Welcome.
I'm sure you can get all the help you need on this forum.
I advice you to read a lot of previos topics about the questions you have. Use the search button.
About the images: This is from the FAQ:
Can I post images?
Yes, images can be shown in your posts. If the administrator has allowed attachments, you may be able to upload the image to the board. Otherwise, you must link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.example.com/my-picture.gif. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible server) nor images stored behind authentication mechanisms, e.g. hotmail or yahoo mailboxes, password protected sites, etc. To display the image use the BBCode [img] tag.
About the clutch:
Check if you have a live drive or single clutch.
Single is a lot easyer to fix than a double one for the live drive.
About parts:
Depents where you are located, but around the world you can find a lot of supliers and these day's there are many parts.
Mind you some parts are nearly right, others are spot on and some are bad.
Search for an engine number at the right side of the engine at the front cilinder or a plate on the fire wall. You say it's a trade engine, so it could be it has no number. If you have a number we can date your tractor.
Welcome.

Re: My 6 cylinder major
Its definitely a single stage clutch, also is it possible to convert it to a pick up hitch, it's a fordson diesel major, I'll see if I can find a manufacturer date today, where would it roughly be located

Re: My 6 cylinder major
It is possible to install a pickup hitch, as long as you have the 3P hitch of course.
As for getting to your clutch: you will have to split the tractor between gearbox and engine. You will have to use a engine lift or do it like this:

Don't use a trolley jack, as this is to dangerous, since the engine can fell off the jack!

Yes a clutch alignment tool is needed. But If you drain the oil in the gearbox, you can easily unbolt the ingoing shaft and use it to align the clutch. At this stage it's also recommend to renew the seal on the ingoing shaft.Straight 6 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 10, 2020 1:56 pmI like the idea of the pallet lifter, Mathias. As for posting pictures:
Some people on the board are using http://postimage.org with good results so far.
Here is how it works:
You can make an account on the website, so you can create your own album. This allows you to add or remove pictures when ever you need to. It is possible to use the website without an account, but you won't be able to alter your pictures.
1) chose size 800x600 (15inch monitor)
2) then chose the files you want to upload
3) Copy the code in the "Hotlink for forums" box
4) Paste the code in the message box together with your message.

Re: My 6 cylinder major
Can you post a picture from the fender?
It's a tractor from the first year of building.
See you have a new starter engine.

Re: My 6 cylinder major
Ok so I didn't do much this weekend as my back was fairly sore, I'm hoping that the break kit I ordered will arrive today, also is there any type of pickup hitch on the later fords I could modify for the major
