Morning all, I have a 1964 Super Dexta, that seems to be eating Solenoids!
The most recent lasted approximately 10 starts, and is now dead. Shorting the contacts means I can start it, but before I replace the solenoid I would like to find out what the problem is. It has original Starter motor, replacement generator and replacement distribution box by the key etc. There is no clicking from the solenoid when I use the key but does appear to be current.

Do you still have the original one? If so keep it. Repro parts are often very poor, I think you need to set the regulator. An RB108 should be set to 15.6-16V at 68ºF when using the cut in speed. I suspect you're overcharging the battery (if so the dynamo will get hotter than normal), hope you're not fusing bulbs as well. I would recommend you repair your original parts. If you use the correct solenoid you can actually connect it with a button when you have issues like this, and from the seat! (not an easy posture but perfectly doable)
