Any one ever taken apart a tacho or any one know of common failures of them?
This one on my recent acquisition..a 1958, the input shaft is seized.
Had a little heat on it and some duck oil, and it has a little movement, maybe 1 or 2 degrees, but does not turn.
Opening it looks like an uncrimp the bezel job which I have nto got tiem to start jsut yet.
Any ideas ?

I haven't yet been in one but will intend to look at Davie's one as he doesn't count hours. Henk fixed his on his Major years ago, he might have some comments to add. I would open it up then carefully free it up then test it before reassembly. Will add anything when we fix Davie's one (probably in a new thread).

I sent mine away to be restored and was well pleased, it used to jump around and now it is all smooth plus I had them alter a new cable I bought as the ends on the new one didn't match
you know it's a classic when people stop to watch.
There were dents and bezel seemed to be split, and possiblely had been silver soldered… unless that was a factory seam.
Can see why needle moves but clock does not.
The worm gear turns but the plastic gear and hour meter drive is seized, and all teeth have been chewed off
Who did you send yours to, to be fixed ?
