Superb find John! Now we know how to fix them, the only hurdle is getting diethyl ether! Now to try for luck on ebay and get a gauge for Billy (not very much there at the moment). I would still prefer a complete one but it's not essential.

I know it's a long time, but you're probably looking at a 954E, the Mk1 industrial tractor engine. It and the 562E were replaced with the 592E from April 57, when the R prefix was replaced with the S prefix. On a different note, the Bourdon tubes in the oil pressure and temp gauges are identical, just in case someone wants to fix one the hard way. All you need to know for that is here:
