More on Seats

Post by Bensdexta »

I'm in search of a luxurious seat for my Dexta, an adjustable suspension seat to save my back.

Been looking at this thread, http://www.fordsontractorpages.nl/phpbb ... light=seat but unfortunately the link has gone.

Any advice and pics on a good comfy seat for a Dexta, and also how it is fixed appreciated. It needs to have a seat belt too.

Many thanks,

Ben

Ben the seat I bought, (in the thread you referenced) was bought in the U.S and made in Turkey. I am satisfied with it, however it is very firm, not at all soft like the pillow I had been using in the original Dexta seat pan. Also, the suspension on the seat kept me elevated to a point where my feet did not touch the floor pans, I had to wedge steel rods in the seat mechanism to keep the seat lowered. I am 5 foot 11 inches tall and weigh 160 pounds but even on the lightest setting the seat would push me up away from the pedals.
This seat has no seat belt, at least in the U.S. It uses the existing bolts and mounts easily.
Here is a link to the seat I am talking about:

Terry,
Do you know the Turkish manufactuer's name? It's probably sold in UK by somebody.
Many thanks,

James,
Did you get yours from Agriline? How do you like it? Can a seat belt be fitted?
Many thanks,

Ben,
i did get mine from Agriline and it is very comfey once the spring rating is set to your weight its like floating on water, And it just bolts straight on but make sure you fix it far enough back so you can get off easy.
i wouldnt fit a seat belt as they are not needed and in safety terms if you are lifting somthing up on the loader and it starts to roll back and off towards you you need to get off fast a seat belt will slow you down, i have seen it happen.

James,
To fit the Agriline seat, am I right in thinking that the springy bit with the old seat mount at the back is removed but the flatter part underneath onto which the trailer hyd connector is mounted is retained?

Agriline list a blue seat under the Ford 3000 (6002). Do you think this will fit the Dexta?

Or did you get the black one under the MF135 (6003) - not sure if these are the same apart from the colour?

Ref seat belt, I think it's a legal requirement if your tractor is used for 'work', has a roll bar and is running on red diesel. Of course one doesn't have to wear it; I'd wear it if working on a slope with risk of over turning.
Many thanks for your help,
Ben

3000 and Dexta are nearly the same so no problem there.

Wearing seat belts is not a legal requirement yet although the EU law makers are pushing it and our HSE are interested. At the moment it is "advisory" although some companies are making it part of their Health and Safety policy.

I think they need to bring in safety cabs and seat belts on quad bikes before they add anymore regs. to operating standard tractors.

Ben,
that is correct there is no need for the old seat frame, and the new seats have a adjustable slider built in.

James
