SMD: Hydraulic Connection to tractor for a Backhoe?

Post by Tmac »

I just got my basket case mini-bhoe finished yesterday. Mounted on the tractor running. For a trial run out on it I connected to the DAR valve. This isn't going to work for use at all. When I swing the boom the DAR valve clicks off. While for the trial I wired it to the on position. Looks like I will have to tap the system for another set snap connections for the Bhoe.
The DAR is a 2 way valve with the screw on the side for a one way cylinder use. Appears to have a plug in the base of the valve just below the spools. Is this a pressure tap? If not where should I tap the system.

Great to hear from you Tom, your ears must have been burning!

You would be better with a standard Aux.Service Plate if you have one amongst your bits. It would be easier to change the DAR and that over than try and get a tapping from the oil flow into the unit.

But you do have different DAR's over there to what we have here.

I shouldn't have said finished so soon ;((
I should have said ready to test run!

I had the Hoe out yesterday, test run, I wanted to see how it would dig. It works great but!
When I got this as a basket case it had the mounts for a Kubota 25 Hp tractor, this mounting could not be used for either the Dexta or Major. So I built a 3pt mount. Which seemed to be the way to go. I underestimated some of the braces as to sturdiness that I made. 2 broke. Since I wanted to dig with it first I didn't want to just make a worthless hole in the ground. I chose to get a tree stump that needed to be removed. The roots of this big tree proved a bit much for a couple of my braces. I will remake these today. A lot heavier than I did!! ;))

Now back to the Hyd supply, it appears that the plug in the valve is a port for continuous supply not regulated by the valve spools. Seems as though I can just move the banjo fitting to that port using the hollow banjo attach bolt. This valve came off of an old (58 ) Ford 850. But may have been from a later Ford 4000 cause it is the same blue as the 60s Fords. But haven't tried that yet I wanted to try some other fixes I had done first and run into the days end. So stayed with the tied off valve handle. I also run into another problem that is of having intermittent Hyd pressure. It may be that the high volume of flow caused the screen to get plugged. So will pull that today to.

Will post as to the status when I get a chance.
