Fordson Major of my grandfather

Post by Renno »

As put in my profile, I'm looking for the Fordson Major of my grandfather. After he died, the tractor was sold. That was in 1999. We now found the owner of the tractor around 2003. He knows that the tractor was in his business and went away. Hopefully he will remember to where.....

Can anyone help me with identifying the type of Fordson Major?
Below a picture of 1999, of the day he was sold. I search already the internet, but couldn't find yet a picture with the same logo.
As far as I know, my grandfather was the first own. He lived in Ede, south-west part of the Netherlands, close to the Belgium border.

That was the original badge from 1952 to 1955.

From your picture I would have said the tractor was built between those years but would need the numbers and casting codes to be sure. It could be late on in 1955 as it has the cone type air cleaner rather than a rounded one.

Many 1952/53 tractors had the air cleaner under the bonnet.

The rear wheels are from 1958 onwards.

Hello Renno,

Glad to welcome a neighbourg. You have some nice hobby's.
I have a 57 major and it has the same decal on the side.
Was the tractor sold outside Zeeland or even in Belgium? Do you have any names?
Kind regards, Henk

The tractor was sold from Eede to Tholen and the last information we have, is that it was working at the company Van Caam B.V. in Kuisland (the west part of Noord-Brabant, near Bergen op Zoom).
This company was overtaken. We talked to the owner. He knows that the tractor was runing at this company, and tries now to remember to who he sold it.

We found some new information.

Last known owner was the family Loos in Kruisland (west part of Noord-Brabant, the Netherlands). They sold the tractor after putting an advertisement in a newpaper, to a person from Zeeland. They don't know the name or address of this person. This has been 6-7 years ago.

Also we found an old insurance card with the engine number on it. Engine number is: 1430568.
With the help of Henk, I now know, that it is a: Fordson New Major Mark II of May 1957.

Maybe someone knows more about it now?
